Be Careful When Seeking Help on Staving off Foreclosure
It’s a real pain dealing with banks and attempting to work out an agreement to stop foreclosures. Many people become frustrated and desperate. Along comes a kind salesman who seems to be the answer. Claiming to work closely with the banks, and knowing insiders at the banks, he offers to negotiate with the bank - for a fee.
So the desparate home owner pays this expert with insider contacts to negotiate with her bank. A week goes by and nothing happens, then another and another, still nothing.
Nothing is happening because the kind salesman took the money and ran.
There is a new target for con men and crooks and it’s the homeowner facing foreclosure. Be very careful if you are paying out any money for help. You must check it out and make sure it’s a legitimate company with an established record and a real physical location.
Another variation is that the homeowner will agree to pay rent to the rescue service. The title is signed over, but the so-called rescue company sells the home for whatever they can get from the equity remaining.
Don’t sign your title over to anyone. If the deal seems legit, have a lawyer review it and be sure.
If you are one of the many home owners in the Daytona Beach real estate market who is facing foreclosure, please don’t make it worse. Be careful and don’t get scammed.
