Florida Votes on Real Estate Tax Rollback
Florida Votes on Real Estate Tax Rollback
Even if you’re not from Florida – you have probably witnessed the frenzy of opposing sides on our property tax issue. Our Governor, Charlie Christ, addressed the Realtor community on Friday, Jan. 25th – praising all the support for the real estate tax cuts he believes will be critical to Florida’s economic recovery.
The ongoing debate involves tax relief for Florida residents and business owners; double homestead exemption and portability, so that Floridians are not stuck in their homes. The opposition comes from those who believe, especially at the local levels, that services will be downgraded with these tax cuts. Florida has not had an initiative such as this since “Save Our Homes” in 1992 which resulted in the Homestead Exemption for residents.
The most important thing here is get informed, get on one side of the issue or the other and VOTE on Jan. 29, 2008. Polls will be open all over the Daytona Beach area. Volusia County residents click here to find the closest polling place. Please call me at 386-566-7503 if you’d like any further information on the tax referendum.
